Grand Egyptian Museum Opens After 2-Decade Wait with King Tutankhamun Treasures

It has been over 100 years since British archaeologist Howard Carter discovered the intact tomb of King Tutankhamun. Now, the long-awaited moment to see treasures from the famous Egyptian king’s tomb has arrived. The Grand Egyptian Museum will display more than 5,300 relics from the young king’s tomb, including his gold mask, throne, and chariots, alongside 100,000 other Egyptian artifacts, making it the largest archaeological museum globally. After facing various setbacks, the museum fully opened to the public on Saturday, welcoming delegates from over 70 countries, including royal families and heads of states.
