Grêmio suffers defeat to bottom-placed Sport, increasing pressure on Mano Menezes

On Father’s Day, with over 35 thousand fans braving the cold night at the Arena, Grêmio lost to Sport 1-0. Still with a game in hand against Botafogo, Mano Menezes’ team ended the first half of the Brasileirão with another poor result, accumulating 20 points and sitting in 15th place. This time, the defeat came at the hands of an opponent who had not won in their last 19 games, including 17 in the Brasileirão. A new chapter in the disappointments of 2025, which already included home eliminations against CSA and Alianza Lima. After the match, football vice-president Alexandre Rossato stood alongside the coach at the Arena’s press room to confirm Mano’s continuity at the helm of the team.
