Grêmio’s player ratings in the defeat to Mirassol according to ZH

Grêmio once again disappointed their fans at the Arena. Playing at home, Mano Menezes’ team lost 1-0 to Mirassol, with Alesson scoring the only goal late in the first half. The result leaves Grêmio with 25 points, just three above the relegation zone in the Brasileirão. Their next match will be the Gre-Nal derby on Sunday (21) at the Beira-Rio.

Tiago Volpi was crucial in preventing a bigger disaster at the Arena, making at least three important saves. He received a rating of 7. João Pedro pushed forward more in the second half but eventually had to be substituted due to fatigue, earning a 6. Noriega showcased great defensive abilities, earning a rating of 6.5. Kannemann won most duels but struggled as the defense was breached from the sides, receiving a 6. Marlon had a tough time against the Mirassol attackers and earned a 5 rating.

Cuéllar did his best to protect the defense and contribute to the build-up but still got a 6 rating. Arthur brings a unique touch to the team’s style, despite being involved in the foul that led to Mirassol’s goal, he got a 5.5 rating. Dodi seemed out of place on the right wing and failed to make an impact, receiving a 5. Cristaldo showed more effort than in previous games but lacked support, getting a 5 rating. Alysson took some risks on the right side but lacked productivity, earning a 5.5.

Braithwaite struggled to receive the ball upfront and had little impact when he did, earning a 4.5. Cristian Olivera made a positive impact on the left side, being involved in the best attacking moves in the second half, earning a 6.5. André Henrique injected energy into the attack, receiving a 6 rating. Pavon managed to deliver some crosses from the right, always giving his best despite errors, earning a 6. Gustavo Martins was more of an aerial presence than a defender, getting a 6 rating. Aravena looked lost as a second striker with no clear role, earning a 5.

Mirassol could have scored more if Alesson had been more clinical in front of goal. Despite the missed chances, he netted the only goal of the game. For more important news about Grêmio, subscribe to the club’s newsletter by clicking here.
