Grifols Appoints Tomás Dagá as Vice President of the Grifols Egypt Board (GEPD)

Grifols announced the appointment of Tomás Dagá, a company director, as Vice President of the Grifols Egypt for Plasma Derivatives (GEPD) board last Wednesday. This joint venture with the Egyptian government aims to establish the first comprehensive plasma ecosystem in the country, Africa, and the Middle East. The Catalan company of plasma derivatives strengthens its strategic alliance and direction for a key project in Egypt’s healthcare self-sufficiency and the company’s global plasma industry leadership.

Grifols continues working to complete the entire value chain for manufacturing plasma-derived medications in Egypt, ensuring its supply to the Egyptian population in the long term. Currently, Grifols operates 16 donation centers in Egypt and plans to add 4 more by 2026, along with a laboratory and a comprehensive plasma logistics center. This ensures traceability and maximum control throughout the value chain, as has been the case in all of Grifols’ operations since 1971.

Tomás Dagá, who led the project’s strategy initiated in 2020, will now drive the industrial and regulatory consolidation of the project. He will also reinforce institutional relations with Egyptian authorities and speed up the full operational implementation of the entire value chain. GEPD is a transformative project for Egypt and the future of the plasma industry. Grifols aims to position Egypt as a global benchmark in healthcare self-sufficiency and a model for treating its own patients, revolutionizing healthcare coverage and redefining biomedical capabilities through knowledge transfer, specialized technical training, and the creation of skilled jobs.
