Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embalo reported to Jeune Afrique that he was detained by individuals in military attire in his office at the presidential palace around noon on November 26 (15:00 MSK). According to the head of state, high-ranking military officials, including the Chief of Staff and his deputy, as well as the country’s Minister of Internal Affairs, were arrested alongside him. The President alleges that the coup attempt was orchestrated by the Chief of the Army Staff.
