An attack at an ICE office, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency in the United States, in the city of Dallas, Texas, left at least one dead and several injured, according to local police. The Dallas Police Department stated in a social media post that the gunman opened fire from a nearby building, killing one person on site. Two others were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds. The incident occurred at 6:40 local time (8:40 Brasília time). Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, stated in a post on X that the gunman committed suicide. The shooting took place at the regional ICE office in Dallas, a building where federal agents process detainees after arrest, before they are transferred to a long-term detention center. The motive for the attack is still unclear. “While we do not yet know the motive, we do know that our ICE agents are facing unprecedented violence against them,” said Noem. “This needs to stop.” “The obsessive attack on law enforcement, particularly against ICE, needs to stop. I am praying for all those injured in this attack and for their families,” wrote US Vice President, J.D. Vance, in response to Noem. This is the second shooting at a federal immigration facility in Texas in recent months. In July, an officer was shot outside an ICE detention center in Alvarado.
