High Cost of Concert Venues in Indonesia: Renting Stadiums Up to Rp 8 Billion, in Malaysia Rp 200 Million

Promoters in Indonesia are speaking out about the difficulty of renting venues for concerts in the country. Their main point is that stadium rental costs in Indonesia are much higher compared to neighboring countries. This was directly revealed by Novry Hetharia, Chairman of the Advocacy and Licensing Division of the Indonesian Music Promoters Association (APMI), during a Public Hearing on the Copyright Law Harmonization Bill with the Indonesian Parliament on Tuesday, November 18. Novry stated that promoters in countries like Singapore and Malaysia can operate much more comfortably because their governments provide significant support, including subsidies and venue usage facilities. ‘The governments in Singapore or Malaysia provide a lot of subsidies to promoters, including ease of venue usage and affordable venue prices,’ Novry said.
