Hockey god turned away from us: Admiral suffers big loss to Salavat Yulaev

Admiral hockey club was unable to stand out in the away game against Salavat Yulaev in the Kontinental Hockey League, losing again with a five-goal difference – 0:5. Two out of the five goals were scored by former players of the Primorsky team – Rodwald and Korbit.
Without a doubt, the away series has been terrible for Admiral. Two days earlier, the sailors lost to Salavat 1:6, so five consecutive defeats indicated certain changes within the team. The first line consisted of Alexander Daryin, Vyacheslav Osnovin, and Ivan Muranov, with Georgy Solyannikov replacing Ruslan Pedan.
Despite adjustments in the lineup and a tight, closed game, the penalties given to the sailors played into the hands of the Ufa team. The hosts took the initiative, earned power plays twice, and capitalized on them. The former teammate, Canadian legionary Jack Rodwald, kicked off Admiral’s defeat with a well-placed pass to Brosso, who Huska saved, but Jack was the first to score, piercing the puck into the net – 1: 0. Three minutes later, Solyannikov left the ice, and Salavat’s advantage was reinforced by Khokhlyachev, who scored from close range, sending the puck under the crossbar – 2:0. The third goal against Huska came on the 16th minute after a counterattack by Faizov – 3:0.
The second period belonged to the guests in terms of shots on goal. Tarnyev’s proteges delivered nearly four times more shots, 11:3, but couldn’t beat Vyazovoi. Olson missed the best opportunity to score – breaking out of the penalty box, he went one-on-one with the goalie, took a low shot, but the Salavat keeper handled it confidently. 3:0.
In the third period, Ufa played greatly on the scoreboard, adding two more goals. Devin Brosso delivered the fourth goal against Admiral with an awkward hand, completing Gordie Howe’s hat trick – an achievement that includes an assist, a fight, and a goal in one game. And the final goal in the last seconds of the game was scored by another former player of the Primorsky team: Gorshkov passed to Prokhor Korbit, who put in his first goal for the Ufa club – 5:0.
‘The start in the last few games has been terrible. We collapse, then start playing and moving, creating goal-scoring opportunities. We always have to make a comeback. It’s a matter of psychology. We created a lot of chances, but chances don’t equal goals, they need to be converted. The hockey god is turning away from us on this trip, it’s evident. Luck also has to be earned. Salavat looked very decent in the first 10 minutes, then let loose, and we took control. Quick goals will break any team, it’s hard to come back from 0:3. We lack composure, skill. It’s clear the guys are burning and eager, worrying about the team’s losing streak. There’s no point in pressing them. We have to go out and convert opportunities, but in the first five minutes, it seemed like they were skating for the first time – everything fell apart. Unjustified penalties lead to nerves and psychology. You quickly get caught in turmoil. The question is, how to get out of it,’ concluded Leonid Tambiev, head coach of Admiral hockey club.
For Admiral, the loss marked the sixth in a row, placing Tambiev’s team in the tenth position in the Eastern Conference with 16 points. On November 2nd, Admiral will play away against Khabarovsk’s Amur.
