On Monday, the participation of the Honduras National Team in the U-17 World Cup in Qatar 2025 came to an end. In the third matchday in Group H, Indonesia defeated ‘La H’, marking the farewell for the Honduran national team with three defeats and at the bottom of their group, with zero points. Despite showing resilience in the match, Israel Canales’ team fell 1-2.
The first half ended goalless, but the Asian team dominated the game’s pace and put pressure on Noel Valladares’ goal, a namesake of the renowned former Honduran goalkeeper. The young goalkeeper had to make important saves, and the Indonesian attackers failed to find the back of the net.
The tide turned in the second half, as a penalty was awarded to Indonesia at the 52nd minute after a VAR review, and Evandra Florasta opened the scoring on the Qatar Aspire Zone pitch. The Asian team’s number ‘6’ deceived Valladares, and Nova Arianto’s team took the lead in the clash between the bottom teams of Group H.
Fortunately for Honduras, their response came quickly. In the 54th minute, the referee pointed to a handball in the Indonesian area, granting the Honduran team a penalty kick. The player who stepped up was Luis Suazo, son of the legendary former footballer David Suazo, who equalized the match 1-1 with a shot down the center of the goal.
Indonesia punished Honduras by regaining the lead in the 72nd minute. After a cross from the right-wing, Fadly Alberto chested the ball down, positioned himself at the edge of the box, and turned to unleash an unstoppable shot. Valladares couldn’t stop the strike, and Nova Arianto’s side regained control. Once again, Honduras had to fight against the tide.
Following this, ‘La H’ failed to create the necessary chances, leading to despair as the score remained 1-2 until the final whistle. With this result, Honduras remained at the bottom of their group and bid farewell to the World Cup with three painful defeats.
