The Hong Kong Palace Museum has emphasized its commitment to maintaining the highest international security standards and optimal storage conditions for its upcoming exhibition of ancient Egyptian treasures. Unveiling three Egyptian statues, one of which weighs 1.8 tonnes, the museum is gearing up to present the city’s largest and longest-running showcase of ancient Egyptian artifacts.
Scheduled to open to the public from Wednesday, these statues serve as a prelude to the grand exhibition titled ‘Ancient Egypt Unveiled: Treasures from Egyptian Museums.’ Featuring over 250 items spanning 4,000 years of history, the main exhibition will be on display from November 20 to August 31 next year.
Louis Ng Chi-wa, director of the Hong Kong Palace Museum, expressed confidence in their security measures during the crate-opening ceremony. Reflecting on recent security concerns following a robbery at the Louvre in Paris, Ng assured that they have aligned safety protocols with the highest international standards.
The museum has collaborated closely with Egyptian authorities to outline meticulous plans for transportation, storage, and display of the artifacts. They have also pledged to enhance security measures throughout the exhibition period.
In addition to the exhibition, the museum will introduce new souvenirs and limited-edition food and beverages infused with Egyptian elements. This initiative aims to offer visitors a holistic experience related to ancient Egyptian culture and history.
