As authorities previously responded to a call about a possible home invasion, the police reported that neither the deceased woman nor her husband entered the house where the incident occurred. María Florinda Ríos Pérez, a 32-year-old Guatemalan native, was fatally shot in the head on November 5 while trying to unlock the door of a residence in Whitestown, a suburb of Indianapolis, which she mistakenly believed to be the house she was supposed to clean. Police found Ríos Pérez lifeless on the porch of the house early Wednesday morning. Judicial authorities are considering whether to press charges against the homeowner. Following a call regarding a potential home invasion in Whitestown, officers stated that it did not appear the couple had entered the residence. The case has been formally referred to the Boone County prosecutor’s office for review to determine if criminal charges will be filed. Authorities have not disclosed the identities of the individuals inside the house or the person who fired the shot, citing an ongoing and sensitive investigation.
