It’s almost time for the Rio de Janeiro audience to enjoy Dua Lipa’s ‘Radical Optimism’ tour. The singer, who has been exploring Rio since Monday, will take the stage set up in the outdoor area of the Farmasi Arena in Barra Olympic Park on Saturday night (22) — the same venue that has hosted Maroon 5, Harry Styles, and Imagine Dragons in recent years. The show is scheduled to start at 9 pm, with gates opening at 4 pm.
Saturday is expected to draw around 25,000 people. Without parking and with restrictions on circulation in the area, the event organizers advise fans to use public transportation. The BRT and Metro operating hours have been adjusted specifically for the concert, with two BRT stations nearby (Rio2 Station and Olympic Center Terminal). Fans are also advised to plan their route in advance and reload their transportation cards to avoid any inconvenience.
The external area of the Farmasi Arena has proven to be a potent and versatile space, capable of accommodating large crowds comfortably with a well-coordinated logistics system by both the artists’ production team and the city government. The stage’s configuration, facing away from Avenida Carlos Carvalho, helps minimize sound impacts, noted by Silvia Albuquerque, the regional director of GL Events, the venue’s managing company.
The BRT stations Rio2 (operating 24 hours) and Olympic Center Terminal (operating until 1 am on Sunday) are recommended for those attending the show in different sectors. The Parque Olimpico Station will be closed from 4 pm on the day of the concert. For Metro users, disembarking at the Jardim Oceanico/Barra da Tijuca Station Access C, connected to the BRT, is advised. The station will operate until 1 am on Sunday, with three extra trains departing to Uruguai/Tijuca Station.
Ride-sharing apps will have restricted access to the concert venue and will not be able to operate near the gates. Pick-up and drop-off points will be in more distant areas prone to blockages. Therefore, the organizers highly recommend using the Metro and BRT services. Denise Dobbin Bauerfeldt Street will be completely closed from 7 am. There will be no designated parking areas around the event.
