Human eye cannot see advantages of 4K over 2K on regular screens

Screens with 4K or 8K resolution do not offer significant advantages compared to 2K screens of a similar size. Researchers believe purchasing a model with ultra-high resolution makes little sense as the eye can hardly discern it. Scientists from the University of Cambridge compared a medium-sized Ultra HD TV with a screen commonly used on computer monitors and laptops. The study revealed no substantial difference in how clear the image appears to the human eye. They used a 27-inch monitor with 4K resolution mounted on a movable platform that allowed it to be moved closer or farther away from the viewers. At each distance, 18 participants were randomly shown two types of images – one with vertical lines one pixel wide in various colors, and another with just a gray block. Participants were then asked to indicate which of the two images had the lines.
