Hundreds of Riders from Around the World Will Compete in Banyuwangi BMX Supercross 2025

Banyuwangi continues to establish itself as the cycling racing hub in Indonesia. This weekend, the Banyuwangi BMX Supercross 2025 will be held, the only BMX race in Indonesia listed on the World Cycling Federation (UCI) calendar. The event will take place at the BMX Supercross Circuit in Muncar District on November 15-16, 2025. The Muncar Circuit is known for having one of the longest tracks in the world. ‘This year, Banyuwangi BMX Supercross is the only BMX Racing event in Indonesia included in the official UCI 2025 calendar. Even at the ASEAN level, there are only two events this year listed on the official UCI calendar. One in Banyuwangi, Indonesia, and the other in Thailand,’ said Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk on Thursday (11/13/2025). The Muncar BMX Circuit is an Olympic-standard supercross track. The circuit has been revitalized by the Ministry of Public Works and involves experienced track BMX architect Tom Ritzenthaler. Acting Head of the Banyuwangi Youth and Sports Agency, M. Alfin Kurniawan, added that the event will also see riders from various countries including Indonesia, Latvia, China, and Malaysia. ‘There are a total of 207 riders participating,’ said Alfin. This BMX Supercross event will feature the C1 race category. Participants will compete to be the fastest in 19 categories, divided into three age groups for both boys and girls: Challence (5-16 years old), Junior (17-18 years old), and Elite (19 years old and above). ‘Come and watch the races live at the Muncar Circuit, or via live streaming on Banyuwangi Sport’s YouTube channel,’ said Alfin. Race Director of Banyuwangi BMX Supercross 2025, Dadang Haries Poernomo, mentioned that the Muncar Circuit has very high difficulty levels and characteristics. With the longest track in the world, measuring 465 meters, and 4 high jump obstacles, which are the most in the world. ‘The circuit is also equipped with two starting gates at heights of 5 and 8 meters, and 7 lines that have different characteristics and can be used for races of various classes,’ explained Dadang.
