Incredible Disabled UK Adventurers Survive the ‘Diver’s Cemetery’

Wheelchair-bound paraplegic Shaun Gash, who was given days to live after a spinal cord injury, and his blind friend Mohammed Salim Patel, made history by diving 30 meters in Egypt’s dangerous ‘Diver’s Cemetery’. They faced the challenge on October 25, 2025, becoming the first disabled divers to complete the notorious Blue Hole dive guided by instructor Curly. The site in southeast Sinai is known for its high fatality rate, with 130 to 200 deaths recorded in recent years, including the tragic case of Yuri Lipski in 2000. Shaun, who had previously conquered Mount Kilimanjaro and led a paraplegic team on a canoe expedition, undertook this dive in memory of a friend who fought leukemia.
