IND vs AUS Semi Final Weather: What is the Reserve Day Rule? Understand ICC’s 4 Points

The women’s IND vs AUS World Cup 2025 Semi-Final is set to take place in Mumbai. Currently, Mumbai is experiencing rainy weather, leading to constant changes in climate. A previous match between India and Bangladesh in Mumbai had to be canceled due to rain. Now, another Semi-Final match is scheduled to happen on the same ground. In such circumstances, if rain poses a challenge, the Reserve Day or backup day has been introduced. However, the question arises: if the match is not completed due to rain, will India be eliminated directly from the competition? And will Australia play the final round directly?

If the match cannot be completed on October 30 due to rain, it will be rescheduled for October 31. But if rain disrupts play on that day and the match is canceled, Australia will advance to the final, as they were in a better position than India in the standings. Understanding ICC’s 4 Points:

1. The primary effort will be to complete the match on the original day, with overs reduced if necessary.
2. If overs need to be reduced on the reserve day following a rain delay on the previous day, the match will be played over 50 overs once it resumes.
3. If rain interrupts play on both days, the overs lost on the first day will be carried over to the next day. A minimum of 20 overs per side is required for a result.
4. If the reserve day is also washed out, the team with the higher position in the table will qualify for the final.

Weather Estimate:

Mumbai has issued a yellow alert for rain on Thursday morning. Heavy rain is expected until about 7 am. According to AccuWeather, there might be light rain in some parts in the morning, but conditions are expected to improve later. The possibility of rain in the morning is around 55%, decreasing towards the afternoon to make the weather favorable for the game. By 3 pm when the match starts, there is only a 20% chance of rain, dropping further to 4% by 7 pm. Therefore, there is a high likelihood of the match progressing smoothly.
