India and Egypt continued discussions to enhance their strategic partnership and explore economic opportunities during a meeting in New Delhi. Neena Malhotra, Secretary (South) at the Ministry of External Affairs, met with Hisham Aboulnasr, Assyut Governorate Governor, to strengthen ties between the two countries. The focus was on sectors such as pharmaceuticals, health, education, textiles, IT, and vocational training in Assyut Governorate of Egypt. Both sides expressed their commitment to further strengthening the strategic partnership between the nations.
In a previous meeting in October, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. PM Modi expressed gratitude to President Sisi for his role in the Gaza Peace Agreement and highlighted the growth of the India-Egypt Strategic Partnership. The discussions centered on various areas of cooperation, including trade, technology, energy, defense, and people-to-people ties, reflecting the positive trajectory of bilateral relations.
During the First India-Egypt Strategic Dialogue held in India, EAM Jaishankar emphasized the shared commitment of both countries to the progress of the Global South. He highlighted the intensified cooperation since elevating the relationship to a Strategic Partnership in 2023 and the potential for further collaboration in areas like trade, technology, fintech, and green technologies.
