India and Indonesia are on the brink of sealing a major defense agreement for the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, awaiting the final green light from Russia, as per defense sources disclosed to India Today. Following the completion of all negotiations and talks between New Delhi and Jakarta, the pact is poised for signing once Moscow grants its approval. If the agreement gets the go-ahead, it will represent a crucial step forward in India’s goals for defense exports, showcasing its increasing capacity to provide advanced military technology to key allies. The envisioned deal comes on the heels of India’s groundbreaking USD 375 million BrahMos contract with the Philippines in April 2023, which will see Manila receiving three missile batteries. The BrahMos system, boasting a range of 290 kilometers and a speed of Mach 2.8, has significantly enhanced the Philippines’ coastal defense capabilities.
