India and UAE Strengthen Ties Through Visa Policies and Legal Cooperation

India and the United Arab Emirates have taken significant steps towards easing visa rules and enhancing legal cooperation between the two nations. During the India–UAE Joint Committee on Consular Affairs (JCCA) meeting in Abu Dhabi, both countries made substantial progress in liberalizing visa policies for travel. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighted that the discussions also focused on improving information exchange, consular access, extradition collaboration, and mutual legal assistance. These developments mark advancements in four crucial areas: visa policies, information sharing, consular access, and legal cooperation. The MEA emphasized that the meeting exemplified the warm and cooperative relationship under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and the UAE. Both countries acknowledged the importance of supporting their citizens residing in each other’s territories, ensuring their safety and well-being. The elevation of bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the UAE in 2015 has significantly enhanced trade and people-to-people connections. The comprehensive economic partnership agreement signed in 2022 further propelled the growth of the relationship.
