India In Talks With African Nations To Bring 30 More Cheetahs By Year-End

Currently, India houses 27 cheetahs, with 11 of them being translocated from South Africa and Namibia in two groups, while 16 were born in India. The Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh, covering 748 sq km of inviolate habitat within a larger cheetah-friendly landscape of 3,500 sq km, serves as the main location for the project. The initiative is set to receive a significant push as negotiations are ongoing with Botswana, Namibia, and Kenya to bring 8-10 cheetahs from each of these countries.
