India Plans to Sell Its Flagship Missiles to a BRICS Country

India is preparing to soon close a deal with Indonesia to sell BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, as reported by India Today citing military sources. Only Russia’s approval is pending, as they participated in the development of the weapon. If finalized, the agreement would strengthen bilateral defense ties, after BRICS accepted Jakarta as a permanent member earlier this year, deepening the country’s strategic alliances with block members, the media reports. The BrahMos missile is capable of cruising at speeds of nearly Mach 3 (three times the speed of sound) and hitting targets located at distances of 290 kilometers or more depending on the variant.
