Indian Farm and Processed Food Exports Surge 12% to $12.47 Billion in Apr-Sept

India’s agricultural and processed food exports have experienced significant growth, increasing by more than 12% to reach $12.47 billion in the period of April to September for the fiscal year 2025-2026. The country has solidified its position as the second-largest exporter of buffalo meat globally, with Vietnam, Malaysia, Egypt, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates being major export destinations.

The growth in exports comes despite challenges such as stiff tariffs imposed by the US, indicating the resilience and competitiveness of India’s agricultural and processed food sector. The diverse range of export destinations highlights the global demand for Indian food products, showcasing the quality and variety that the country has to offer.

One of the key factors contributing to India’s export success in the food industry is the implementation of stringent quality standards and modern processing techniques. This has enabled Indian exporters to meet international requirements and cater to a wide range of consumer preferences in different markets.

The Indian government’s focus on promoting agricultural exports through various initiatives and trade agreements has also played a crucial role in boosting the sector’s growth. By facilitating access to new markets and addressing trade barriers, the government has created opportunities for Indian farmers and food processors to expand their reach globally.

The ongoing growth in farm and processed food exports not only benefits the Indian economy but also strengthens the country’s position as a key player in the global food trade. With demand for Indian products on the rise in various regions, exporters have the opportunity to further capitalize on this momentum and explore untapped markets for future growth.

As India continues to showcase its capabilities in the agricultural and processed food sector, the outlook for the country’s exports remains promising. By leveraging its strengths in quality production and market diversification, India is well-positioned to continue its growth trajectory and expand its presence in the global food market.
