Indonesia Government Boosts Carbon Pricing Opportunities

The Indonesian government is actively working to strengthen opportunities for carbon pricing in the country. Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq highlighted the bold and strategic steps taken by Indonesia during the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belem, Brazil. The government has put in place a robust governance framework and formed partnerships with various independent credit schemes, such as Gold Standard, Plan Vivo, Global Carbon Council (GCC), Verra, and Puro Earth, to support carbon pricing efforts. The Seller Meet Buyer (SMB) session at the Indonesian Pavilion was successful, with PT Pertamina selling 37,000 tons of carbon to Bank Mandiri and CIMB Niaga. Nurofiq emphasized the importance of building market trust through such initiatives to enhance promotional efforts.
