Indonesia Reports Over 500 Victims of Floods and Landslides

The death toll continues to rise following the devastating floods that have struck Indonesia, with over 500 reported fatalities and 500 individuals still missing. This information comes from the Indonesian national disaster agency, which attributes the 502 confirmed deaths to the floods caused by torrential rains. The latest figures have brought the death toll from floods in Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka to over 1,000. Sumatra Island has been severely affected, with entire communities isolated and thousands of residents lacking essential supplies. At least 442 people have been killed, 464 injured, and 402 remain missing on the Indonesian island of Sumatra due to the destructive floods triggered by heavy rainfall in recent days. The new death toll was provided by the Indonesian national disaster agency, which also reported that 290,000 people have been displaced by the floods. The monsoon season, exacerbated by tropical storms, is causing the worst floods seen in Southeast Asia in recent years. Hundreds of people have died or gone missing in Malaysia and Thailand, with an official death toll of 170 in Thailand and 160 in Sri Lanka.
