Indonesia Strengthening Services and Protection for Migrant Workers through MoU between KemenP2MI and Kemenlu

The Ministry of Manpower Protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers (KemenP2MI) has officially established a partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu) to enhance services and protection for Indonesian migrant workers (PMIs) overseas. The collaboration aims to ensure that PMIs receive adequate support and safeguards while working abroad.

Under the MoU, both ministries will work closely to improve coordination in assisting PMIs. By leveraging each other’s expertise and resources, they aim to address the needs of Indonesian workers in foreign countries more effectively. Through joint efforts, they aim to enhance services related to recruitment, training, legal assistance, and healthcare for PMIs.

One of the key objectives of this collaboration is to strengthen the monitoring and supervision of Indonesian workers overseas. By enhancing oversight mechanisms, both KemenP2MI and Kemenlu seek to prevent exploitation, abuse, and other risks faced by PMIs. They will work together to provide timely assistance and intervention in cases where PMIs encounter difficulties or violations of their rights.

The MoU also underscores the importance of cooperation with relevant stakeholders, including foreign governments, recruitment agencies, and international organizations. By fostering partnerships with various entities, KemenP2MI and Kemenlu aim to create a network of support for PMIs and facilitate information exchange on best practices in migrant worker protection.

Through this partnership, Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to promoting the welfare and rights of migrant workers. By enhancing services and protection for PMIs, the government aims to ensure that Indonesian workers abroad can pursue their livelihoods in a safe and secure environment. The MoU between KemenP2MI and Kemenlu represents a significant step towards achieving this goal.
