Indonesia Welcomes A400M Transport Aircraft and Considers Using It for Firefighting

Airbus has delivered the first A400M transport aircraft to the Indonesian Ministry of Defense. The aircraft will be operated by the Indonesian Air Force, making it the eighth in service in the Asia-Pacific region. The delivery ceremony took place at Halim Air Base in Jakarta after the aircraft was received at Airbus facilities in Seville, Spain. This is the first of two A400M aircraft acquired by Indonesia in 2021, with the second unit scheduled for delivery in 2026. Karl-Heinz Grossman, Airbus Defence and Space’s international division director, welcomed Indonesia as the tenth A400M operator, highlighting the aircraft’s capabilities in complex environments like the Indonesian archipelago. Airbus will provide comprehensive training and logistics support to ensure smooth operational integration with the Indonesian Air Force.
