Deputy Minister of Human Rights Mugiyanto Sipin has spoken out regarding the UN’s scrutiny of recent violent demonstrations in various regions of Indonesia. The United Nations Human Rights Office of the High Commissioner (OHCHR) has called on the Indonesian government to investigate allegations of human rights violations behind the unrest in several areas of Indonesia. The OHCHR expressed concerns over the use of force and violence during the demonstrations which led to various disruptions and clashes in the country.
