JAKARTA – The Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) investigation into possible corruption in the construction of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway Whoosh is progressing steadily following President Prabowo Subianto’s assurance of ‘no major problems’ related to the project’s outstanding debt. The ongoing preliminary inquiry, initiated earlier in 2025, aims to establish if any corrupt practices took place during the project, stated KPK deputy chairman, Johanis Tanak. ‘There is no obstruction [from the President] to carry out an investigation,’ mentioned Mr. Johanis during a press briefing on Nov 5. ‘Investigations bring legal certainty. If no evidence is found, the case will be closed. However, if signs of corruption emerge, we will inform the President,’ he emphasized.
