IOC Concerned About Athletes’ Access Issues to Competitions

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) issued a statement this Wednesday expressing concern about athletes’ access issues to countries hosting international competitions, after a remote meeting of the IOC Executive Board. In response to the recent veto by Indonesia preventing Israeli athletes from participating in the Artistic Gymnastics World Championship, the IOC emphasized the importance of ensuring that all athletes have equal opportunities to compete. The IOC reiterated its commitment to promoting inclusivity and non-discrimination in sports, calling for respect of the Olympic Charter and refraining from political interference in sports events.
