Iran Opposes Hezbollah Disarmament, Lebanon Denounces ‘Unacceptable’ Interference

Lebanon’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned statements made earlier in the day by Ali Akbar Velayati, advisor to the Iranian Supreme Leader, expressing Tehran’s opposition to the international community’s call for Hezbollah disarmament. The Lebanese government denounced the interference in its internal affairs and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining stability and security in the region.

In response to Velayati’s statements, the Lebanese Foreign Ministry emphasized the need for Iran to respect Lebanon’s sovereignty and independence. The ministry underscored that Hezbollah is an integral part of Lebanese society and plays a significant role in the country’s defense against external threats. It also reiterated Lebanon’s rejection of any attempts to infringe upon its sovereignty or dictate its internal policies.

The Iranian government’s position on Hezbollah’s disarmament has raised concerns in Lebanon, particularly due to the close ties between Tehran and the militant group. Lebanon views Hezbollah as a legitimate resistance movement and a key player in the fight against Israeli aggression. Any external interference in Hezbollah’s disarmament could destabilize the delicate balance of power in the region and provoke further conflict.

The Lebanese government considers Iran’s stance on Hezbollah’s disarmament as a violation of the country’s sovereignty and a threat to its national security. Lebanon has called on the international community to respect its right to self-determination and to support its efforts to maintain stability in the region. The government has reiterated its commitment to dialogue and diplomacy as the preferred means to address disagreements and prevent escalation of tensions.

As tensions escalate between Iran and Lebanon over Hezbollah’s disarmament, diplomatic efforts are underway to address the issue and prevent any further deterioration of relations. The Lebanese government is seeking to engage in constructive dialogue with Iran to resolve the disagreement and ensure mutual respect for each other’s interests. Both countries have expressed a willingness to find a peaceful solution and avoid any actions that could lead to an escalation of the conflict.

The international community is closely monitoring the situation between Iran and Lebanon regarding Hezbollah’s disarmament. The United Nations and regional organizations have called for respect for Lebanon’s sovereignty and for dialogue to resolve the issue peacefully. The stakes are high, as any miscalculation or escalation could have far-reaching consequences for the stability and security of the Middle East.
