This boycott comes after the United States denied visas to several members of the Iranian delegation, including officials of the Iranian soccer federation. Amir-Mahdi Alavi, spokesman for the federation, stated that the visa obstacles faced by the officials went beyond sports-related concerns. Despite the news, there has been no immediate response from the White House regarding the situation.
