Islam Makhachev on Victory over Della Maddalena at UFC 322: ‘It Was Easy’

Russian fighter Islam Makhachev claimed that his title fight against Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 322 was not too difficult for him. The bout went the full five rounds, after which the judges unanimously awarded the victory to Makhachev. The judges’ scorecards read 50–45 (three times). As a result, the Russian fighter took the UFC welterweight championship belt from Della Maddalena, having previously held the lightweight title. ‘This is a dream. My whole life for these two belts. They are so heavy, but I love it. Thank you, New York,’ said Makhachev. When asked about moving to another weight class, he stated, ‘My life has changed, no more (heavy) weight cuts. It was easy.’
