An Israeli channel reported on Monday evening that work on the train project linking Israel with the United Arab Emirates continued during the war in Gaza and has now reached an advanced stage of preparations. According to i24, a delegation from Israel’s Ministry of Transport, led by the minister Miri Regev, travelled to Abu Dhabi in an unannounced visit over the weekend. The report highlighted that the high-speed train is being developed to support trade between the Gulf states and Israel. This delegation’s visit to Abu Dhabi aimed at bolstering the regional cooperation crucial between Saudi Arabia and Israel, with expectations that the project will establish a commercial route turning Israel into a pivotal trade hub. The proposed plan involves goods departing Mundra Port in India by sea to the UAE, then transitioning overland through Saudi Arabia and Jordan before reaching Haifa, providing a route for further transport to Europe.
