The Israeli army launched a ground offensive against Gaza City early Tuesday (September 16), further escalating the action aimed at destroying one of Hamas’ last strongholds on Palestinian territory. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) posted pictures of Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir leading the operation in Gaza City on social media. They also shared a video of Israeli tanks entering the area with what they described as support from the Air Force and Navy. IDF quoted Zamir telling Israeli soldiers, “You are tasked with further striking Hamas and defeating the Gaza City Brigade, to complete the most moral and important mission – bringing all hostages home, destroying Hamas’ military and governing capabilities.”…
