A jet owned by J&F, the Batista brothers’ company and owners of the JBS meatpacker, landed in Caracas, Venezuela at 5:14 am (Brasília time) last Sunday (23). The plane spent the day in the Venezuelan capital, returning at 7:53 am on Monday to Catarina, an airport dedicated to executive aviation in the interior of São Paulo. The information surprised the aviation community considering that Venezuelan airspace is on high alert for security reasons due to threats from U.S. President Donald Trump against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. Two days before the flight with the J&F plane, the FAA, the U.S. Anac, issued a warning advising civilian aircraft to avoid flying over Venezuelan territory due to potential security risks. The warning led commercial airlines to cancel flights to the country, despite protests from Maduro.
