João Roberto Marinho Awarded at the International Emmy Awards

The president of Grupo Globo, João Roberto Marinho, received the World Television Personality trophy at the 2025 International Emmy Awards in New York City on Monday (24). This marks the fourth time TV Globo has received this honor. The first time was in 1976, with Roberto Marinho being awarded, followed by another win in 1983. In 2014, Roberto Irineu Marinho also took home the prize. In his acceptance speech, João Roberto Marinho stated, ‘This recognition celebrates a 100-year journey. The story of a family that believes in Brazil, quality content, and independent journalism, always in service of society.’ He continued, ‘It also celebrates a company that invests in talent and the incredible diversity of Brazilian culture to create content that resonates with people and takes our stories beyond our borders.’
