In June, when he participated in g1 ouviu, Jota.Pê had already announced that his show at The Town would be based on his solo repertoire. And that’s what happened on Sunday afternoon (14), as Jota.Pê made his debut at The Town. Jota opened his show with ‘Crônicas de um sonhador,’ from his debut album (2015), and focused on the tracks of his career in the first half of the presentation. The 32-year-old artist from São Paulo and winner of three Latin Grammys continued with ‘Garoa’ and ‘Feito a Maré.’ Before singing his version of ‘A Ordem Natural das coisas’ by Emicida, he shared his relationship with the artist and entertained the audience by revealing that he thought Emicida had hated his cover done 4 years ago. Following that, Jota moved the audience with ‘Ouro Marrom,’ a song that earned one of the artist’s Grammys. The singer brought six backing vocals to add an even stronger tone to the track addressing racism. ‘The most important song I ever wrote,’ he said. João arrived at the event with his recently released album, ‘Pé de Serrita,’ and captivated the audience with his charm and powerful voice. The singer is known for not having a setlist during his shows and letting the music flow naturally. He even likes to surprise his bandmates on stage (but he ‘behaved’ well during his friend’s performance). For those who were expecting songs from Dominguinho, the singers did not disappoint – even with the absence of one of the project members (Mestrinho, who was performing with Mariana Aydar at a festival in Portugal). ‘Beija Flor’ and ‘Lembrei de Nós’ were the chosen songs. Then, the duo performed ‘Dengo’ and ‘Meu pedaço de pecado,’ two of João Gomes’ biggest hits. Throughout the show, Jota mentioned that his goal was to keep the people there (who were unfamiliar with his work) until the end. Half of the audience belonged to that group. The artist, who was part of Lulu Santos’ team on The Voice in 2017, managed to achieve his goal and concluded the performance exceeding his expectations.
