Juan Pablo Vojvoda is the new coach of Santos

Juan Pablo Vojvoda has been announced as the new coach of Santos. The Argentine takes over the reins of Peixe with a contract until the end of 2026 and is expected at the Rei Pelé training center later this week. Santos has confirmed the appointment of Vojvoda as the new head coach. His contract will run until 2026 and he will replace Cleber Xavier, who was dismissed following a heavy defeat to Vasco in the Brazilian Championship.
The negotiations progressed intensely from Wednesday, after Santos ruled out hiring Jorge Sampaoli. Meetings throughout the day brought the parties closer together, with Vojvoda’s affinity with the club’s history facilitating the agreement. The Argentine had been approached by other Brazilian clubs but turned down two offers.
There are still some bureaucratic adjustments pending for the official announcement, which could happen on Thursday. The coach is expected to arrive in Santos on Friday to sign the contract. However, his debut in charge of Peixe is likely to be on the 31st against Fluminense, with Matheus Bachi serving as interim coach against Bahia.
Vojvoda’s balanced and thoughtful approach was crucial in making him the top choice for the board. He is known for working well with small squads and seeking financially viable reinforcement options, as demonstrated during his time at Fortaleza.

Vojvoda’s Career Before Santos
The Argentine started his career as an interim coach at Newell’s Old Boys, before moving on to Defensa y Justicia, Talleres, and Huracán. He then led Unión La Calera in Chile, and later Fortaleza from 2021 to 2025. During his time at Leão do Pici, he won three Campeonato Cearense titles and two Copa do Nordeste trophies.
Therefore, Vojvoda arrives at Santos with the task of reorganizing the team and implementing a sustainable approach, in line with the club’s financial reality, aiming for consistent results in the Brasileirão and other national competitions.
