King Charles III orders removal of titles from brother, Prince Andrew

King Charles III has begun the official process to remove Prince Andrew’s titles. The Palace of Buckingham also notified the brother to move to a private residence, as reported on Thursday (30). The measure comes amid Prince Andrew’s difficulty in containing the scandal involving his relationship with the former financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who died by suicide in jail in 2019 in the United States. ‘His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles, and Honors from Prince Andrew,’ said a statement from the Palace of Buckingham. ‘Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor,’ the statement added. ‘These sanctions are deemed necessary, despite him continuing to deny the allegations against him,’ the note said. ‘Their Majesties make it clear that their thoughts and deepest condolences have been and will continue to be with victims and survivors of all forms of abuse,’ the Palace of Buckingham declared. The statement also mentions Prince Andrew’s housing situation. Currently, he lives with his ex-wife at Royal Lodge, a 30-room mansion on the Windsor estate on the outskirts of London. ‘His lease of the Royal Lodge has so far provided him with legal protection to continue residing on the premises. Formal notice of termination has already been served, and he will be moving to an alternative private residence.’ The lease allows a person to use a property for a set period. Until now, the prince had such a lease agreement that allowed him to live on the property for 75 years. ‘These sanctions are deemed necessary, despite him continuing to deny the allegations against him,’ the Palace of Buckingham added.
