Kolkata Metro Sees 1.99 Crore Passenger Drop Due to Pandemic

In the second financial year of the pandemic, Kolkata Metro has seen a staggering 1.99 crore decrease in passengers from the previous year. The system currently stands at 6 million passengers, down from 9 million in Ahmedabad where it dropped from 3 million to 1 million passengers. During the period of July-September 2024, Kolkata Metro observed a decrease in usage due to various factors, contributing to the overall decline in ridership across Indian metro systems. This decline in passengers has significant implications on the revenue and operations of the Kolkata Metro.
