Labor Criticizes Judge for Legalizing 12-Hour Workday Practice Without Overtime Pay at PT Huadi

Workers from the Bantaeng Industrial Area (KIBA) criticized the judges of the Makassar District Court for granting PT Huadi Nickel-Alloy Indonesia’s lawsuit. They believe the judges’ decision has legalized the company’s practice of implementing a 12-hour workday without paying overtime. The legal representative of KIBA workers, Hasbih Asiddiq, criticized the judges’ decision for not considering the trial facts and expert witness explanations presented by the workers. Hasbih emphasized that the decision would have negative repercussions for workers across Indonesia. ‘If we analyze the contents of the decision, the judges support the 12-hour work practice at PT Huadi Nickel Alloy Indonesia or the Nickel Industry Zone with overtime pay below legal regulations,’ said Hasbih Asiddiq in a statement on Tuesday (4/11/2025).
