The Lebanese government issued a strong protest on Saturday over remarks made by Ali Akbar Velayati, advisor to Iran’s supreme leader, criticizing the US-backed strategy to disarm non-state militias. Lebanon’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdallah Bou Habib, expressed the government’s disapproval of Iran’s blatant interference in their internal affairs and attempts to undermine efforts to disarm Hezbollah, a designated terrorist organization.
