The dispute between Flamengo and the Libra (Brazilian Football League) had a new chapter this Friday. After Flamengo spoke out about the court-ordered blocking of payments for a portion of the TV rights of the Brazilian Championship to be distributed to league members, the entity countered the club’s statement and emphasized, among several points, that the distribution rule is in the statute, which was approved by the club ‘without reservations.’ They also criticized the club’s decision to make the case public. Flamengo refutes criticism from Leila Pereira and states it seeks an agreement among Libra clubs. Leila Pereira raises the tone and suggests Flamengo’s exclusion from a new league after a controversy over revenue sharing with Libra: ‘They should play alone.’ ‘It is false that the Libra Statute is silent on the criteria for revenue distribution. The revenue distribution rule negotiated collectively by LiBRA is described in the Statute. It was approved in a General Assembly. Unanimously. Including by Flamengo itself. And without reservations. Therefore, it is also false that the Club did not agree with the method of determining audience described in the LiBRA Statute,’ the association stated in a note.
