Live | Bolsonaro Trial: See Alexandre de Moraes’ Vote

The First Division of the Brazilian Supreme Court (STF) resumes on Tuesday, 9, the trial of the criminal action against former President Jair Bolsonaro and seven other defendants for an attempted coup after the 2022 elections. On this third day of case analysis, the ministers begin reading their votes. The case’s rapporteur, Minister Alexandre de Moraes, analyzed the preliminary objections raised by the defendants’ lawyers and is now reading his vote on the case’s merits. The session will be adjourned for lunch and the trial will resume in the afternoon, at 2 p.m., during a regular session. In total, eight sessions were scheduled, but on the afternoon of last Friday, the 5th, Moraes requested extra sessions from Minister Cristiano Zanin, President of the First Division, who granted the request. There will also be sessions in the morning and afternoon on Thursday, the 11th. The trial’s outcome is expected to be announced on Friday, the 12th.
