President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva sanctioned, on Monday (1/12), the National Congress Bill (PLN) nº 31/2025, which authorizes the hiring of 2,073 public safety professionals in the Federal District and grants salary increases of up to 28.40%. The decision was published in the Official Gazette this afternoon, addressing a request made by the Government of the Federal District almost a year ago. With this approval, 700 civil police officers, 1,284 military police officers, and 89 military firefighters are now authorized to be hired, reinforcing the staff of these entities during a time of infrastructure improvements and increased security forces in the federal capital. As the security forces of the Federal District are funded by the Union through the Constitutional Fund of the Federal District, any salary increase depends on a joint assessment by the GDF, the federal government, and the National Congress. The salary adjustment request was submitted by the local government 10 months ago but has only now received definitive approval.
