Lula signs decree with new rules!

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) signed, on Tuesday (11), the decree that regulates changes in meal vouchers and food. Among the main changes are the creation of a ceiling on the fee charged by companies and the reduction in the deadline for transferring the amounts to vendors. The new rule establishes a ceiling of 3.6% on the fee charged by restaurants per meal voucher company. Companies will have 90 days to comply with these rules. According to the Minister of Labor and Employment, Luiz Marinho (PT), these fees currently reach 15%. The government believes the measure will increase the number of establishments accepting these forms of payment. Additionally, the decree also incorporated interoperability, allowing any card reader to accept vouchers from all brands. The deadline for this rule to take effect is 360 days. The changes do not affect the amount transferred to workers, which remains the same. The amount is also intended only for workers’ food expenses.
