Lula Takes Part in Ministry of Education Race in Brasília

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) joined a walk to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the Ministry of Education (MEC) in Brasília this Sunday (28). Alongside Lula, the event brings together authorities such as ministers, employees, ministry workers, amateur athletes, and the community on Ministries Esplanade, who will compete in categories like male, female, and para-athletes. Lula took part in the 3 km walk, with the event also featuring 5 km and 10 km races. The president completed the course in 34 minutes – he started at 7:18 am and crossed the finish line at 7:52 am. During the walk, the president decided to do some short runs, with four small running stretches along the Esplanade.

The first lady, Janja da Silva, is expected to accompany the president on the course. Additionally, the participation of ministers Camilo Santana (PT) of Education, Fernando Haddad (PT) of Finance, Alexandre Silveira (PSD) of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Padilha (PT) of Health, and Gleisi Hoffmann (PT) of Institutional Relations is planned. In addition to the ministers, the President of the Central Bank, Gabriel Galípolo, and the President of the PT, Edinho Silva, also took part. At the end of the course, the president addressed the crowd. Without mentioning former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), Lula criticized the motorcycle rides that Bolsonaro – currently under house arrest – used to take with supporters. Lula said, ‘Folks, this here shows our civility. There are no motorcades, no sleazy shows, just a walk. A walk of educators.’
