Lula warns about the risk of approving amnesty for Bolsonaro: ‘It is not a Congress elected by the periphery’

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva warned about the risky possibility of Congress approving an amnesty for former president Jair Bolsonaro, who is being judged in the Supreme Federal Court (STF). Lula’s comment was made during a meeting with communicators and activists of Aglomerado da Serra, in Belo Horizonte. ‘If it goes to a vote in Congress, we risk amnesty [being approved]. Congress, as you know, is not a Congress elected by the periphery. It has helped the government, we have approved everything we sent, but the far-right still has a lot of power in Congress,’ Lula cautioned.
