A massive 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck near Aceh province on Indonesia’s Sumatra island on Thursday. The country’s geophysics agency confirmed the seismic activity. The quake, occurring at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers, caused brief panic among locals but fortunately did not pose a tsunami risk, as reported by Reuters. There were no reports of damage or casualties resulting from the earthquake. Indonesia sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire, a region known for frequent seismic activity.
