Marburg Virus Disease Outbreak in Ethiopia: WHO Sends Immediate Team to Stop Spread From Bats

Ethiopia has confirmed its first Marburg Virus Disease (MVD) outbreak, with nine cases reported prompting immediate action by the Ministry of Health. The situation has raised concerns of possible cross-border infections to neighboring countries. The Ministry of Health revealed that nine confirmed cases were identified in the Omo region, near the border with South Sudan, after health workers in the area reported patients with symptoms similar to Viral Hemorrhagic Fever (hemorrhagic fever).
